Barrett’s Burgers: Classic Recipes and Secret Grill Tips

Barrett Burgers
One Friday evening my family came over for dinner and we decided on a cookout. My husband made the most delicious burgers, so I wanted to share the recipe here. Earlier that day we were at Target and I found a pack of four corn-on-the-cob holders in the dollar section for $1.00 — I always find useful bargains there!
Here’s the burger recipe we used — simple, flavorful, and perfect for a family cookout.
Ingredients:
1–3 pounds ground beef
½ cup Italian bread crumbs
Spice mix (our blend, recipe below)

Spice Mixture — equal parts of:
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Black pepper
Chili powder
Ground mustard
Sea salt

Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, about 3 tablespoons of the spice mixture (adjust to taste), and the bread crumbs. Mix gently until everything is evenly combined — avoid overworking the meat to keep the burgers tender. Portion the mixture into balls roughly the size of a medium orange, then flatten each ball with your palms into a patty about 1 inch thick.

Prepare the grill by wiping the grates with a paper towel lightly coated in vegetable oil to prevent sticking. Preheat the grill to approximately 300°F. Grill the patties for about 10 minutes, flipping once, until they reach your desired doneness. If you like cheese, add a slice to each patty during the last minute of cooking so it melts nicely. Serve on toasted buns with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
