Sesame Green Beans Recipe: Garlic-Sesame Sautéed Green Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 pound green beans
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds*
  • Garlic salt, to taste

Instructions

  • In a small dish, whisk melted butter and soy sauce together and set aside.
  • Wash and trim the green beans.
  • Steam the beans in a covered pot with about 1/2 inch of water for 1–2 minutes, or until crisp-tender. Drain any excess water. If you’re not serving right away, plunge the beans into ice water to stop cooking and keep the color vibrant.
  • Toss the warm beans with the butter-soy mixture, toasted sesame seeds, and garlic salt to taste. Serve immediately.

Notes

*To toast sesame seeds: spread seeds on a foil-lined baking sheet and broil 1–2 minutes, shake the pan, then broil 1–2 more minutes until they are golden and fragrant. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
