Fresh Strawberry Salsa is a bright, summery condiment that works beautifully on tacos, grilled chicken, salads, tostadas, or simply as a dip for tortilla chips. This salsa is visually striking and full of fresh, vibrant flavor.
Fresh Strawberry Salsa
When strawberry season rolls around, head to the market early—ripe berries go fast. I buy a flat of the sweetest strawberries I can find and turn them into simple, delicious recipes.
This Fresh Strawberry Salsa highlights the natural sweetness and bright acidity of strawberries. It’s colorful, healthy, and easy to make.
Tips for the best Strawberry Salsa
- Choose the sweetest, ripest strawberries available. If they’re not very sweet, increase the honey slightly to balance the flavors.
- No need to core the berries—just remove the green tops and dice.
- Always use fresh lime juice for the best brightness and aroma.
- For a subtle depth of flavor, you can replace half the lime juice with balsamic vinegar.

Can I use Frozen Strawberries?
Frozen strawberries are not recommended for this salsa. They release too much liquid when thawed, resulting in a mushy texture. Frozen berries are better suited for sauces or compotes rather than a chunky salsa that benefits from firm fruit.
Is it very spicy?
This salsa is only mildly spicy because the jalapeños are typically deseeded. Most of a jalapeño’s heat is in the seeds and white membrane, so removing them keeps the heat gentle. If you prefer more spice, leave in some seeds or add an extra jalapeño.
The salsa will release more juice the longer it sits. I prefer serving it within an hour of making it so the strawberries stay slightly firm. If you need to prepare it in advance, serve with a slotted spoon and, if necessary, drain a little of the liquid—leave enough for flavor, though.

Add the diced strawberries, jalapeño, red onion, and cilantro. Gently toss to combine.
